Philosophy

My love of people fuels and infuses my teaching. Every single person of every single ability, age, identity, race, and sexuality deserves to find their voice and sing with Nichols Studios.

Healthy, sustainable vocal technique serves as the core priority of my teaching. I believe in individualized instruction based on the interests and experience levels of each unique student’s needs, both as singers and as humans. While musical theatre comprises my primary expertise and repertoire, many of my students focus on other genres, including Classical, Jazz, Pop, R & B, and Rock.

Lessons cover topics beyond vocal technique, including acting through song, audition technique, college audition prep, connection to material, musicianship, performance prep, repertoire selection, self-taping, song interpretation, vocal confidence, and much more.

About my current students:

  • Ages 10-67 (I’ve taught older and younger, too—including adolescents navigating their voice change)

  • Vocal skills span beginner to advanced

  • Include Trans and non-binary students (I welcome and use students’ preferred pronouns)

  • Some aim for careers as singers, others just want to sing karaoke!

Welcome to the Studio!

The Nichol’s Voice Studio is located in the lower level of Abby’s home. Students are welcome to help themselves to water or tea while they wait for their lesson.

If you’re lucky enough, Abby’s cat Pepper might greet you with a sweet meow and cuddle. Pepper has many fans in the studio!
